Lallapalooza: Show Resumes as Storms Pass East of Chicago

By Bill Evans / August 4, 2012

Update: 4:23 PM Pacific. From the promoters: Thanks for everyone’s cooperation. Doors open back up at 6pm! Check our website for the updated schedule…

Chicago Weather Center (link below) has said the storms have passed and all watches and warning have expired or been cancelled. Hats off to EVERYONE for handling this one right.

Maybe someone DID learn Something from the Indiana State Fair tragedy. Lallapalooza is happening in Chicago’s Grant Park right now. Well, it was. Organizers are shutting it down effective pretty much now. We’ll be following the situation and updating. For now some links.

UPDATE 2:54 PM Pacific

From WBEZ in Chicago

This is an ongoing story and is being continually updated.

Lollapalooza, the massive music festival currently in its second day in Grant Park on Chicago’s lakefront is evacuating in advance of “serious weather.” WBEZ reporters on the scene say festivalgoers seem calm, yet disappointed. Many are making plans to continue their festivities in area hotels.

Festivalgoers are being told to take shelter in nearby parking garages, which are serving as emergency evacuation shelters, located at Grant Park North, Grant Park South and East Monroe streets, but there are reports that there is little direction beyond that.
