BREAKING NEWS: Javanotti Stage Collapes in Trieste Italy
December 13, 2011 —
According to UPI.com, a stage being built for a concert by Italian rocker Javanotti collapsed Monday, killing one person and injuring eight in Trieste, Italy. Rescue workers said the stage was nearing completion when the front buckled, leaving workers crushed by scaffolding.
In a first official statement by Maurizio Salvadori of Trident Management (production agency of the Jovanotti tour) said: “At the moment next concerts have to be considered suspended; within tomorrow we will communicate the decisions about the remaining tour dates.”
One of the eight taken to hospital was in intensive care and said to be a ‘code red’, meaning his condition was fairly serious.
It was not clear whether Jovanotti, known for his commitment to leftwing causes, would go ahead with the gig at the PalaTrieste, a major sporting venue in the northeastern Italian city.
