Tragic and Horrific: Winds estimated at up to 70mph whipped through the Indiana Stafe Fair Grounds (Indianapolis) moments after Sara Bareilles closed her set and moments before Sugarland was about to take the stage.

The incident occurred shortly before 9PM, as the winds brought the rigging that holds lighting and line arrays down on fans in the VIP section. The most recent reports say five people were killed and up to 45 injured. This is at least the 4th such occurance we’re reported on this year, and by far the worse.

Last word on the two follow spot ops was two in the hospital, one with a broken leg and one “banged up.”

House electrician is on the radio now. Says four follow spot guys were in the rigging when it came down. Local 30 guys. Electrician (“Jeff”) says one has a broken leg and another two broken ankles. So far we are hearing that one guy on the Sugarland crew was sent to the hospital as a precaution but is OK.
